Isn't it funny how you can end up in a completely different place to where you thought you'd be? Mentally, physically and emotionally. Me and my friend had a conversation yesterday about how all the things we thought we'd be doing a year ago are very different to present day. She had moved to a new city in hopes of pursuing an amazing career, and basically being a female boss in a big city, only to find things a lot difficult than expected. The 'realities' of life got in the way.
Equally so, I never predicted where I'd be today, especially career wise. It's not bad in any way, it's more that the path towards it was a lot different to what I had expected. When we are 5, it feels like everything is so straight forward. One day we'll wake up and be an entrepreneur, a dancer or an actress. The older we get, the more trials we face and we often wonder if there is anyone else who experiences the same issues as us, or feels as different as we do. We want to know if there is anyone whose life looks like ours, someone we can identify with.

In reality things don't always come easy, but it doesn't mean we should let the unpredictability of life  weigh us down. One of my sisters was born with cerebral palsy, and seeing her laugh and remain so joyful whilst pushing through her own every day trials is something that will stick with me for the rest of my life. Being a young carer and witnessing this on a daily basis imprinted a strong belief in me that there's always hope and things can only get better.

Just because the 5 year plan takes a different turn doesn't mean that we should loose our passion or our motivation. All of the most successful people in life came across opposition, challenges and trials. Equally, it was their determination to push past the difficulties which allowed them to be where they are today.

Equally so, you may feel like you've not achieved the things you wanted to, or you've lost a little hope or motivation in your dreams. You are not alone! Everyone who has goals has felt like this at one point, and it's completely normal. What is not okay, is living under that dissapointment and regret. Because guess what folks... WE'RE ALL HUMAN. We need to cut ourselves some slack and know, life is a very long thing. It's a journey and a process, and hoping for the future is great, but enjoying the present is just as important. Human beings are built with the most amazing quality that allows us to overcome trials, let's embrace it.

Sometimes we may hope for something and end up discovering something better in the process. Maybe a job, city, or relationship. All in all, even when it feels like the end, I'm a big believer that God is always working behind the scenes. It can only get better from here!

"Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them.
If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?"
Matthew 6:27-33

When we're in the pursuit of something, it's natural to have our hopes and dreams challenged.
