Let's begin with the decor. Sketch has various themed dining rooms, each with their own quirky interior touches. We dined in the main gallery - a gorgeous pink room filled with the most amazing classic furniture. One of my favourite things about the room was the walls - all of which are covered by fun sketches created by the artist David Shrigley.
After ordering our classic afternoon tea, we were given a complimentary starter - egg and soldiers accompanied by caviar, a sophisticated twist on a classic british dish. Now, I've never tried caviar before so I was a little hesitant, but it was actually very nice! For anyone who hasn't ever tried it, it basically tastes exactly like fish. (I don't know what else I was expecting, but hey!)
The sandwiches and cakes were divineee - so much so, I'm sure I'll be dreaming about them for the next week or so. Aside from looking like edible works of art, every bite had it's own distinct flavour, so we made sure to take our time with trying each thing. The Battonburg and pistachio profiteroles were a patricular favourite of mine! The tea also came with freshly baked scones, various jams, fresh clotted cream, and the choice of even more cakes from their cake trolley.
(And if you go, make sure you take a trip to the toilets. Every cubical looks like a futuristic space pod and it's all very exciting.)
